Our mission is to forge solidarity with believers affected by poverty and oppression, to get them the help they need so that they can effectively reach the lost in their own communities – and beyond.
- Autumn Rain Mission Statement
Solidarity with believers facing persecution and poverty
To serve them according to their expressed needs
To empower them to preach the Gospel
- The Mission
This poem was written in June 2006. It was inspired by the 24/7 prayer movement book by Pete Grieg, ‘Red Moon Rising’ and his powerful poem, ‘The Vision’.
My mission?
Jesus. Fully, purely Jesus
To be near Him, to be with Him –
I must have Him
Less of me and more of Him
His mission?
Rescue
To plunder hell
To snatch precious souls back from the brink
You enter the prayer room, take off your shoes
Will you fall face down?
Pinned to the floor in reverence?
Will you be more undignified than this?
And wildly dance before the ark of God?
Your heart says, “Abba, my daddy”
You climb into His lap
Nestled in His arms, head against His chest
You hear the heartbeat of God
All the longings and yearnings and intentions of the Father’s heart are exhaled on His breath
It rustles your hair
You hear gentle whispers, softly spoken words of
Comfort, hope and unfailing, infinite love
The child knows the Father and becomes like Him
Imprinted
Your heart muscle takes up His rhythm
He speaks and you listen with your deep heart inclined
To catch every sigh, every syllable
- Feed my lambs …. Those are my kids …. Go get my babies …. And bring them home
Your heart breaks with the things that break God’s heart
You know your Father, you know His business
Spirit to Spirit
His life, His breath, His power imparted to you
You leave the prayer room with sleeves rolled up, boots laced, resolved
- What do you need me to do?
- C’mon. Follow me
You go where Jesus would go
You do what Jesus would do
Steered by the Spirit
Only to be with Him
A tour of the harvest field:
- Look! It is white, ripe, ready
But the labourers, they’re so few
Where will this passion, this desperation for Jesus lead?
Blazing compassion, there is fire in His eyes
He is beautiful and terrifying
Strong, wiry and forceful
It is the day of vengeance
He leads the way
Where to?
To the gutters, the ghettoes, the brothels, the pubs
To the sewers, the slums, the underground, the dumps
To the desolate, the destitute, the discarded and the deranged
To the addicted the evicted, the delinquent and the defiled
It will take you to the very jaws of hell
Hidden people in hidden valleys see lovely, stone-bruised feet
coming towards them along dusty trails
A golden thread of mercy twines through a thousand years of bondage
You carry His presence
Ancient knowing recognizes a Friend
Like first light to the watcher
First land to the sailor
The first drops of rain in drought
- They’re mine!
See them, touch them
Wash them, feed them
Heal them, house them
Hear them, teach them
Love them, free them
It is messy, dirty dangerous difficult work
It will cost you dearly
It cost Him everything
He is going
He is my passion, my mission, my purpose
I go where He goes
I’m with Him
C’mon
